Karen: Prairie Village tutor
Certified Tutor
I am originally from England and I started learning French at the age of 4 in an experimental class piloted by my school in north London. That early experience has led me to a lifelong love of all things French. I graduated from the University of Liverpool in the UK with a Bachelor of Arts in French and English. During my undergraduate studies I spent my junior year living in France and teaching as an assistante in a French middle and high school. I moved to the USA to complete my M.A. and Ph.D. in Romance Languages at the University of Georgia, and since then have worked full-time as a professor of French, English, and Honors. I stay up to date with my language and cultural skills by traveling extensively in Europe during the summer months. I am also a certified ESL instructor, having received my training at TEFL Toulouse. While I tutor and teach a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about French. I love explaining the quirks and intricacies of the language to my students and helping them discover the rich culture of the Francophone world. I teach and approach life in general with humor, kindness and patience. When I'm not traveling or teaching, I love to hang out with my two goofy dogs and I also enjoy gardening, reading, kayaking and swimming.
