I believe helping students succeed is of the upmost importance. Helping students makes me feel accomplished as an individual and more importantly helps set the foundation of the student's knowledge base which can allow them to explore ideas they wouldn't otherwise have the foundation to do so. I started working with students by attending supplementary instruction (SI sessions) as a college student myself. During my time in SI, I observed tutor to student interaction, student to student interactions, successful tutoring methodology, and inadequate tutoring methodology. I earned my bachelor's degree in biological science at Florida Atlantic University in fall 2021 and I am currently working towards my masters in fisheries and aquatic sciences at the University of Florida. In the past I have tutored, organic chemistry, medical microbiology, and K-12 math. My favorite subject to tutor is biology because I am fascinated by biology and the processes that make life possible. My teaching methodology includes giving lesson overviews, explaining concepts, explaining visual descriptions, working through problems as a team, individually solving problems, and making sure all students understand the concept/problem before moving on. Outside of academia I am an avid fisherman and a self-proclaimed naturalist. I am particularly interested in agriculture and reproductive biology. In fact, I am working on starting up my own sturgeon aquaculture farm and I am also starting a small scale gourmet mushroom business.
