Micaela: La Grange tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of The University of Minnesota and received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and minored in Environmental and Outdoor Education. I found that the intersection of science and education is where my communication and data-driven skills thrive, and I'm passionate about sharing the lessons that our environment has offered me thus far. This combination allows me to tutor a broad range of subjects, including environmental science, biology, ecology, and writing. My studies lead me to complete research on both coral reef substrates in the Bahamas and snow hydrology on the shores of Lake Superior. Along with skills in data processing and visualization, I use effective writing methodologies to disseminate the information extracted from collected data. Following my love of writing and science, I published a literature review on the synergy between soil bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi. As an educator, I believe in a systems-centered learning approach that focuses on the interconnectedness of subjects and how we can apply them to the real world. In my experience, this has helped students understand the context of what they're learning and given them the tools they need to succeed.
