Certified Tutor
I am a current Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. I previously earned a B.S. in Chemistry and Psychology at my current university. I strive to combine my love of chemistry with my knowledge of cognitive learning skills in an effort to make a difficult topic more approachable. I feel passionately that learning the concepts behind a subject, rather than memorization, yields a deeper and more meaningful student experience. Within my current department I have worked as a teaching assistant for 3 years in both classroom and one-on-one settings. I tutor both high school and college General Chemistry. Many students dread general chemistry courses, and I am passionate about making the material is less daunting through conceptual learning. The most rewarding part of working with students is seeing the excitement when making connections between general chemistry topics to phenomena in their own lives. I believe that the path to success is paved with education, which is why it is important that I contribute through teaching.
