Certified Tutor

I hold a Masters in Education (Reading Specialist), from Howard University (Washington, DC) and my earlier academic pursuit, in Speech Pathology and Elementary Education, was completed as a dual Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University (Mt. Pleasant, Michigan). My 25 plus years experience in the profession of Education has been a labor of compassion, commitment, and an extraordinary experience, that led me to receive STEM Certification from Columbia University and Adams University, from NASA Endeavors Fellow Program. Since retirement from the public school systems of Washington, DC and Baltimore County Public Schools, I have tutored and mentored students from other countries, Alternative Education Programs, and Public Schools; and during the last two years, tutored online. (Which I found very exciting!) I have taught grades K-6; and 7-8.I have managed STEM programs and have received various recognition from national organizations and the Department of Education (retired Secretary of Education Arne Duncan).

I am most passionate about Reading and Literacy. I have experience helping struggling students who have gaps in their reading comprehension and writing areas. I come from a family of educators, musicians, and community activists, who strengthen my knowledge for learning and having fun while learning. I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. I enjoy reading and watching movies. I have traveled to China, Haiti, Nigeria, Mexico, and various states. When I was young, READING about far away places encouraged me to visit different areas of the world. With that experience, I felt the world was smaller than what I thought and I deserved to help improve it.
