I recently graduated from the University of Victoria, where I earned my MA in Anthropology. I earned my BA at SUNY Binghamton, where I majored in both Anthropology and English. My MA studies combined my passions for writing/creative media and education by examining how popular media - like movies, TV, and books - communicate human evolution in particular and thus effect the way we understand that science and ourselves. The goal of this study was to find ways to more creatively engage with a public audience in order to make learning fun. That being said, you can expect tutoring with me to be an engaging experience. I love playing games and getting creative with the ways I teach and you learn, and do my best to implement student-centered and interactive lessons. Please remember that I'm here for YOU, and I can adapt my methods and lessons to what works best for your learning style. I tutor in Anthropology and English, including writing, reading, vocabulary, grammar, and speaking and have worked with both ESL and native english-speaking students. Writing - and communication generally - is such an important and often undervalued skill, but I find it incredibly fun, cathartic, and POWERFUL, and I'd like to share the joy of writing and communication by helping you find your own voice. While I have primarily tutored in English-related subjects, I have assisted in teaching numerous anthropology courses in cultural anthropology and archaeology, and would love to share my passion for the incredible diversity of our species with you!
