I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I love languages, especially Japanese and American Sign Language. I have a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Linguistics from the University of Louisville and about 80% of a Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting from the University of Louisville (I had to drop out my final semester because of a brain cancer diagnosis).

Funny story, I entered the American Sign Language Interpreting degree program by accident! In the course catalog the courses were listed as simply "Interpreting" and at the time I was interested in being a Japanese language interpreter. Come to find out it was for American Sign Language! I was already taking ASL courses and realized interpreting was my jam, from English to ASL or English to Japanese.

I tutor drums because I have about 18 years of experience in the concert band, pep band, and church band settings. Going to private lessons helped me succeed, I hope tutoring your student(s) will help them to succeed too.

My favorite subjects to tutor are American Sign Language and Japanese because they are perceived as exceptionally difficult languages to learn. My style of tutoring these specific areas looks like breaking down words and sentence structures into smaller parts and building up to the word, then the phrase, then a paragraph and so on.

I am a proud life time member of the Girl Scouts of America; growing up a Girl Scout helped mold me into a woman of courage, confidence, and character. With this being said, I am committed to helping your child/children with their confidence in their studies and abilities. I will challenge your student(s) in a safe and fun way so we can all celebrate their success(es).
