I received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Riverside and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Southern California. Since graduating from UCR's chemistry program, I have gained academia and industry experience in the field of chemistry, with my focus for the last four years being on high school chemistry education. I currently have my teaching certificate to teach chemistry and composite science for grades 7-12 in Texas and for the past four years taught all levels of chemistry (on-level, advanced, AP, IB and organic chemistry) at Lamar High School in Arlington, TX. I am passionate about Chemistry (and science in general), English and Math. My absolute favorite subject is chemistry (and has been ever since I took my first chemistry class in high school) because while it is possible to master its foundations and key concepts, the field of chemistry is ever expanding and changing our views of the world. As a result, I always feel like there is more to learn when it comes to the field of chemistry, which makes it that much more interesting. Through my Ph.D. studies and employment as an adjunct chemistry professor at Tarrant County College in Hurst, TX, I also have the experience and passion to facilitate learning chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate level. My teaching philosophy and tutoring approach at the high school and college level are one in the same because my main goal is to meet students where they are at in terms of understanding the concept at hand, and using their prior knowledge, learning style and various examples to facilitate their mastery of the content. In my spare time, I enjoy reading for leisure, running, writing, and spending quality time with my family.
