Certified Tutor

Hello! I am a certified Primary Literacy Coach who received training from Lesley University. I specialize in reading and writing with a focus on reading for meaning. I have also trained with Sherry Parrish, author of Number Talks, in helping students create mental math connections.

I believe in an inquiry-based approach with a good balance of direct instruction. Students like to be problem solvers so I present "problems" or tasks to students and guide them to find solutions using the skills and strategies they already know. If they are lacking these skills and strategies, I will use direction instruction, or modeling the skill and instructing them exactly how to do something. Then, the students have this new skill as part of the toolkit when presented with a new task or problem.
