Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall, a college preparatory academy and am currently studying biological sciences at Boston University. My formal experience working with students encompasses various instances throughout my academic career. The year before my freshman year of high school, I served as a volunteer counselor at the Connecticut Science Center summer program for 2 weeks. I assisted in teaching children ages 7-10 about different topics in science, including forensics and astronomy. I conducted many of the daily experiments and worked to help them understand these topics. Additionally, during my junior and senior years of high school, I served as a facilitator in my school's Diversity Day programs (the student one and the faculty one). I helped to organize the entire day's events and facilitated conversations on issues of diversity within out community, educating my peers on issues that were relevant to our everyday lives as students. During my senior year of high school, I, alongside 4 other students, started an after school tutoring program in computer programming for the children of the staff workers at my school. For about 3 months, we taught children ages 7-13 basic computer programming skills and language every Tuesday afternoon for 2 hours. I am a tutor in a wide variety of subjects, but I am most passionate about STEM, reading/writing, and test preparation because I have found my teaching methodology to be the most successful and beneficial to my students when teaching these subjects. I have always had a passion for learning and that passion has extended to helping others understand different subjects as well. I have been doing so for as long as I can remember. In my free time, I enjoy making music, reading my favorite novels, riding my bike, and some quiet moments to meditate.

My biggest passion will forever be reading. You can always catch me nose deep in a book, whether it be the complex stories of Haruki Murakami or Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I also like to involve myself in various artistic avenues. I love to draw, paint, compose music, and play my instruments. These creative outlets have allowed me to develop and understand myself, especially during challenging academic ventures. Also, I have been an athlete all my life and enjoy playing volleyball, basketball, running track, swimming, dancing, and riding my bike. Lastly, I am a staff writer of an online student-run public health publication called Connect In Health. I'm very passionate about public health and have written articles on a variety of issues.
