Kirsten: Pleasanton tutor
Certified Tutor
Hello! My name is Kirsten, and I have been helping people with math for over 8 years. I was someone who found math to be confusing and frustrating until I found an incredible tutor. My experience with tutoring sparked such a love for math that I earned a undergraduate degree in math with a 4.0 GPA and then received a master's degree in math! Therefore, I can relate to both how challenging and frustrating math can be and also how empowering it feels once it finally makes sense.
As an undergraduate student, I was a Supplemental Instruction Leader (SIL) for Precalculus, Probability and Statistics, and Calculus I. I also tutored all undergraduate math courses in the university Learning Center.
As a graduate student, I tutored all undergraduate math subjects in the Math Department Study Hall. I also taught Precalculus for 1 semester and Calculus I for 3 semesters. One of my students said the following in their end-of-course teacher evaluation: "Absolutely outstanding. I could spend the night writing about how well done this class was. Time and time again
Kirsten made difficult concepts easy to understand and garnered interest in calculus topics that would otherwise be
time consuming and tedious. I haven't encountered a better math teacher in my entire life, she is always responsive and
helpful with individual questions and adjusted perfectly for everyone's pace in the class when students were having
trouble. If there are awards for graduate instructors, she seriously deserves every one of them."
During both my undergraduate and graduate degree, I also privately tutored elementary through high school students.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, visiting National Parks, and spending time with friends and family.
I am so excited to meet you, hear your story, and help you become a confident and successful math student!
