I believe in helping all students succeed and work towards their full potential. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with my bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle Level Education. While at UNI, I also minored in Literacy (K-8) and Social Studies (K-8). While I am certified to teach elementary aged students, my passion is working with middle-grade learners (5th-8th grade). I currently teach middle school language arts but I also taught middle school social studies for 6 years. In 2019, I finished my master's degree, which was quite the labor of love. I graduated from Morningside College as a Professional Educator and I also received my Talented and Gifted (K-12) endorsement. One of my favorite parts about education is creatively finding ways to help all students learn and grow, no matter what their skillset is. In my spare time I enjoy reading (of both the physical and audio kind), traveling, and hanging out with my dog and family.

I am a voracious reader. I average approximately 100 books a year and I have way too many books on my to-be-read shelf. Sharing book recommendations with others is one of my favorite things to do! I am also very passionate about reducing my footprint. In the last couple of years, I have made many switches to plastic or waste free options to help lessen the amount of garbage I produce. This is a huge passion area of mine and I love researching and learning about new ways to reduce my footprint. I also love spending time with my dog, Simone. She is a senior Lhasa Apso rescue and she is my world. She has a strong personality, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Some other hobbies of mine include handlettering, watching movies, long walks at Target, and listening to podcasts.
