Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where I received a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience. Since graduation, I have been conducting public health research at a research facility in Bethesda, Maryland. During this time, I extensively studied for and took my MCAT. During my study process, I rediscovered my passions for tutoring as I would help my peers develop study schedules and testing strategies. There are so many resources to use for learning and it makes me proud to see someone grow in their ability to learn. In college, I was a peer tutor for general chemistry and introduction to neuroscience. I am most passionate about biologyespecially neuroscienceand sociology as my interest in health disparities tends to bring me to the intersection of the two fields. When teaching, I believe it's important to empower students and increase their sense of self-efficacy as it pertains to learning. Using resources that help the student manage their time and do more work in less time helps take some of the burden off the student. It makes me proud to watch a student gain confidence in themselves after they've mastered a concept that used to give them anxiety or a sense of helplessness. In my free time, I love to eat out, watch sports, workout, write poetry, read, and listen to music.
