I am a middle-years math teacher in the School District of Philadelphia. I have taught middle school for over 15 years ~ teaching Special Education as a Math teacher and am currently teaching as a Regular Education Math teacher.

I began my teaching career studying Music Education (Voice Concentration) at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. and received a Bachelor's of Music (voice) degree with teaching certification - grades K-12. My first teaching position was teaching music to children with severe disabilities in a residential environment. I loved teaching children with special needs so much, I decided to pursue further educational training in Special Education. I graduated with honors with a Master's of Education degree from Holy Family University. As I was completing course work in graduate school, I worked as a Special Education teacher - Learning and Autistic Support. A math teaching position opened up at my current school and the principal wanted a strong candidate to apply. She urged me to apply as she felt that my passion in teaching math and with my extensive experience in Special Education (specifically with specially designed instruction), I could help improve the math scores of many of our students (over half were functioning below basic - 2 or more years below grade level).

So that brings me to the present... I Bring my passion and experience in teaching math to Varsity Tutors. My goal is simple: help others to be successful in math. I end with a popular pun... Math: The only subject that counts!
