I first became interested in tutoring through a peer leadership program I was involved in when I was 18, working with younger teenagers to complete community service, and teach and practice effective study, testing, and learning skills. My subsequent experience at my university working with student outreach programs has served further to fire my enthusiasm and prepare me to aid secondary students to the best of my ability.

I am currently studying English at Brigham Young University, and have additionally studied emphases in rhetorical strategy and analysis, trauma literature, and 20th century American literature. I am heavily involved in performing arts at BYU, singing and traveling in an all-female acapella group called Noteworthy. I additionally have experience tutoring and editing research papers written in Chicago, APA, and MLA formats, and have enjoyed several months volunteering with the middle school Girls Empowered program.

My time in school, in and outside of the classroom, has developed my philosophy of valuing and celebrating each child or teenager as both an individual as well as part of a community. I aim to give my students as many learning opportunities, experiences, and study and writing skills to prepare them not only for further education, but for a purposeful and rewarding life.
