Certified Tutor

My name is Joshua Berkman. I have a BA in Educational Studies, am currently a substitute teacher at Colebrook Consolidated School in Colebrook, CT, and a private tutor in Millerton, NY.

I love being a teacher; whether it be at the front of the classroom or in a tutor capacity. I believe learning should be student driven with the teacher or tutor acting more as a moderator.

Teachers should guide the learning process but not take it over completely. I am a very creative person that takes students unique interests and experiences and uses them as the driving force for quality learning.

I can adapt quickly to whatever curves the learning session takes or reign the session back to where it needs to be if the need arises. I have compassion, passion, and empathy for all students at all phases of the learning process and am eager to help any and all students who need help.

When I'm not tutoring or in the classroom, my hobbies include spending time with my beautiful wife and my doggo Pepita, playing video games, board games, mountain biking, reading, listening to most music, and watching movies (shout out to MST3K.)
