I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy at the University of Houston- Downtown where I gained skills in technical communication and literature analyzation. The skills I obtained in this field can be used to interpret different schools of thought which has helped me with different problem-solving abilities. My goal while tutoring is to use my education so that I may teach and help others learn material that is difficult to understand. Throughout my time getting an education I have thrived mostly in the literature/English studies department due to my high interest in the subject matter. I enjoy analyzing material that suggests having a deeper meaning and interpret it from different perspectives. In doing so, I have gained skills that can help others develop papers that could potentially have more content with sound information. If it is not a paper that the individual needs assistance with, then I could help with understanding the material for any other analyzation that is necessary. With that being said, I have extensive experience with MLA format and some experience with APA. My experience with MLA stems from the research conferences I attended at the University of Houston-Downtown two years in a row. As a result of this I have tips and pointers for those who are nervous to present in front of large groups. In conclusion, I aim to assist those in need of a understanding on how to build great papers and analyzing difficult texts as well as enhancing study skills.
