James: Libertyville tutor
Certified Tutor
I have been a tutor for several years, and I have amassed several hundred hours of tutoring. In terms of content level, my students have ranged from middle school math students to advanced undergraduate math students. My students come from all skill levels as well, from those trying to make up for lost time to those trying to set the curve for their class. I have always believed that every student comes with their own challenges, and I have always approached every student as a unique challenge.
I have found substantial success as a tutor because I understand that every problem can be broken down to more simple questions. By breaking down larger problems into discrete steps, I'm able to teach a replicable approach to problems in a way that makes sense to them. I often find myself insisting to my students that math can be easy when approached correctly.
Through my vast experience with students, I've also developed several strategies for ensuring that they understand the material at hand at a deep level. I often quiz my students on various vocabulary, reminding them that true understanding is routed in the details of the problem at hand.
