I am an experienced math tutor, available to help with all courses and ages. My philosophy is to break down math into parts a student can understand, and I live for the "a HA!" moment. My teaching style is highly interactive and I believe in working together with a student to find the solutions instead of presenting the answers. This is the way I learned best in school, and it is the way my kids learn best when I help them with their elementary, middle and high school math classes today. In other words, my student and I will look at a problem from many views, and use a skill in many problems - that's the way to be sure it is really understood and can be recalled and put to use on a test and, most importantly, in real life! When I'm not helping my kids with their schoolwork, volunteering at school, or running the household, I love to hike with our two dogs and am an avid geocacher; I have found over 8000 caches and hidden over 100!
