Ketsia: Marquette County tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in French. Then I continued to pursue, and obtained a Master's degree in Public Health with a concentration on health education, communication and advocacy. I first discovered my passion for teaching after I accepted a job offer to help remedial college students in writing. At that time, I was also in college, exploring different career pathways to choose from after graduation. This passion has grown even stronger as the years go by.
Almost a decade ago, I worked as a math and English tutor with public school students from grade K-8; and last year I decided to expand my tutoring experiences by teaching adults ESL, as well as assisting high schoolers to prepare for their SAT exams. In addition, I have worked with children diagnosed with Autism as a behavioral therapist, teaching them to acquire language, self-help and social skills. Furthermore, I was selected to become a graduate assistant whereby I used academic databases to search for requested scientific articles. This particular experience allowed me to develop a love for research and problem solving.
As I continue to learn more about the many aspects of life such education, languages, health and fitness, arts and crafts and so on, I am dedicated to pass on my knowledge and provide guidance in the areas of study skills and organization, languages (English and French) and others to all age groups.
I trust in different learning approaches, as I have come to understand that individuals process and retain information differently. Therefore, I believe it is my duty to get to know students, as I apply various learning strategies to make lesson plans fun and effective. Students will be able to get the most out of tutoring sessions, and find them to be fruitful and rewarding.
I look forward to helping you achieve your goals successfully.
