My strong interest in tutoring dates back to my years in high school, where I constantly saw myself explaining to my peers how to better understand concepts that they were struggling with. I often stayed after school, per my teacher's request, to help those who were having a bit of trouble learning the content and working with them as a means to improve their comprehension in the subject. These types of events occurred a lot more often during my junior and senior year of high school when courses such as AP Calculus or Government/Economics, that I was able to easily understand, proved to be more difficult for my classmates, thus fueling my desire to want to help them master the content in preparation for exams.

The summer before starting my junior year of my undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to apply to the University of Arizona Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (SALT) Center. Once junior year began, they reached out to me for an interview and hired me as an academic tutor. As a former part-time tutor at the SALT Center, I was responsible for holding one-on-one tutoring sessions for undergraduate students who possessed learning disabilities. During my time there, I was able to share my knowledge with my peers using creative strategies and methods for them to better understand concepts they were previously struggling with. Thanks to the hundreds of students that I have encountered in the SALT program and that I have tutored, I have learned to adapt my way of tutoring in individualized ways to better suit students as well as enhance my interpersonal skills with my peers.

Besides tutoring, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, going to the drive-ins, and playing tennis. As a former high school varsity tennis player, I always aimed to work hard and continue to improve my skills both on and off the court. I truly believe that my goals are within reach due to my work ethic and diligence.
