Teaching is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do as a graduate student in mathematics. I am passionate about both math & language. In fact, I believe they exist on a continuum. The math department I am in is headed by an English-Math double major and full of international students and professors. I love working with both native English speakers and ESL students alike. Growing up bilingual (English & German), I learned early on to be flexible with language and expression. This same flexibility is vastly useful in both learning and teaching mathematics.

When I see a student struggling, we have not yet found the right way for that person to tell themselves the story of what is going on in the equation or graph. My goal is to offer alternative ways of thinking about all aspects of mathematical concepts. Mathematics is a not an uncreative discipline for singular-minded folksI truly believe math is for everybody! Sharing my passion for math, being sensitive to student needs, building student confidence by establishing a strong foundation in the language of mathematics are the cornerstones of my instruction.

My personal mathematical interests include the Calculus & Analysis; Geometries; Combinatorics; and Combinatorial Geometry, which can draw in from disciplines ranging from Linear to Abstract Algebras; Topology; and Complex Analysis.
