BIO for Vincent Marino

My teaching style: After retiring from a successful career as an engineer for Lockheed Martin I started tutoring math at the local middle school as a volunteer. I realized that I had a talent for teaching young students by helping students set their priorities and goals, helping students understand the importance of studying by practicing while doing their homework, and by showing that I care about their success. I take the time to identify each student's learning style, for example some students are visual learners while other learn best by listening. In short, I adjust my teaching style to the student rather than having students to adjust to me.

My career: My career started directly out of high school when I enlisted in the US Navy. I was fortunate to be selected to serve with an elite group of men serving in the Submarine Service commonly known as "silent service ". After nine years in the navy I gave up my strips to serve in yet another elite silent service the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). I worked and lived overseas in many foreign countries. In 1994 I retired from CIA to begin a new career as a defense contractor until I retired a second time in 2013.

My education: In was in 1995 when I stopped traveling the world that I knew it was time to invest in my education. I complete a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science with Strayer University in 2000; a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering with The George Washington University in 2001; and a second Master of Science degree in Project Management with The George Washington University in 2010.

My Hobbies: I take pleasure in keeping my garden well maintained and keeping my car detailed. I find it relaxing and a way to meditate by clearing my head of the world around me and focusing on the task at hand. I sing in a local choir that puts on a community summer concert and a Christmas concert yearly. I'm also a member of a Doo Wop group specializing in music from the 50's and 60's. And if that's not enough I enjoy bowling while bowl in a community league.
