I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

My name is Carlos, and I am currently a university student at UNR. I am a senior this year working towards finishing my Neuroscience degree and then hoping to move onto graduate school. I like brains and learning about the ways in which they work in order to allow us to interact with the world. Throughout my academic career, I have done a variety of educational work including being a student advisor, teaching assistant, and a research assistant. Additionally, the breadth of coursework I have taken throughout the years has made me quite capable in fields ranging from genetics, to something of the sort of metaphysics. I think it's important to draw not only from all sources of study and take that into consideration with my teaching approach. We all have strengths and weaknesses, if we can recognize what those are, we can work towards making those weaknesses better and those strengths stronger than before.
Besides academia, I also enjoy playing guitar, writing, reading, and the occasional Netflix binge watching. I am originally from Las Vegas, and have a younger sibling back home. I used to skateboard when I was younger and still love to watch and keep up with the sport to this day. I also have a fondness for trying new foods and going out to see new places and things.
The subject areas I would say I am strongest with would be anything K-12 and then undergraduate classes consisting of courses in fields such as biology, psychology, chemistry, and the humanities. I can tutor math up to calculus 1 and introductory English college courses. Please feel free to reach out to me! I am a very patient person and looking to help you succeed! My hours include Monday Thursday from 4:30 pm and on and then Fridays 2pm and on and the weekends any time. Hope to hear from you soon!
