In 11th grade chemistry, I struggled to understand the difference between a cation and anion. Frustrated and desperate for help, I asked my fellow classmates, who responded with nothing but an empty stare. I dreaded 3rd hour of the school day, everyday, only because I did not understand chemistry. I told myself if I could help it, I would never allow someone to feel the anger and defeat I felt in that chemistry class.

Fast-forwarding to college, I fully understand what positive and negatively charged ions are. I also have a pretty good understanding of math. I discovered that I am pretty good at it, and have worked as a math tutor at my university for the last year and a half. I thoroughly enjoy helping others understand my favorite subject and preventing them from experiencing those negative feelings I felt towards chemistry when I was in high school. Math can be ugly if not fully understood, but I want people to see the beauty in it.
