What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that elementary education is the start of the student's educational foundation because it shapes them to reach their full potential in life and prepares them for the years they have ahead of them. As a teacher, I want to help my students achieve and inspire them in any way I can.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, I would use various levels of approaches until we find the approach that helps the student understand the concept. There are different learning styles, such as visual or hands-on (manipulatives).
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
The way I help students who are struggling with reading comprehension is by using guided reading. I chunk up parts in a story so that I can help the student stop and think what is going on in the story and break it up into parts; that way, the students will have a better comprehension by the end of the book.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
There are plenty of resources online that are interactive which will easily engage students with a subject that they are struggling in. Most of these online resources are educational games that go along with a subject.
