Jamie: Mount Vernon tutor

Certified Tutor

My name is Jamie and I am originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan. I graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in 2014. I was in the School of Education where I majored in elementary education and language arts. I student taught in a number of classrooms ranging from kindergarten to middle school before receiving my teaching certificate. While living in Ann Arbor, I was active in several student-led organizations geared toward promoting academic and character growth both inside and outside of school. I had the opportunity to lead an after school tutoring program where I tutored students ranging from first to fourth grade. I was also a member of 'We Support Detroit Schools', a social justice group that partnered with Detroit high schoolers to raise awareness and give students a voice regarding issues in their neighborhoods. After graduating I taught fifth and sixth grade language art, social studies, and math in Metro Detroit. I now work at an elementary school in Downtown Denver where I work as a math specialist.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, skiing, and yoga. I appreciate traveling throughout the country to explore the world around my. I can often be found on a mountain with either a pair of skis or my hiking boots.
