Certified Tutor

I am both passionate about the subjects I tutor, and about becoming the most effective and receptive educator I can possibly be. I have always excelled in areas such as English and writing, and, through my rigorous undergraduate career, I was able to recognize my full potential as a reader and writer, as a student and educator. I will soon be entering an English PhD program, primarily focusing on Disability Studies and Speculative Fiction, because I hope to explore that full potential. In addition to working on a PhD dissertation, I will be educating college students on course material that I am passionate about. Through tutoring, I hope that I can help students recognize and reach their full potential, even in difficult subject areas.

I know that students are facing unprecedented challenges at the moment, with adjustments to online learning being at the forefront of many students' concerns. As a tutor, I hope to give students the additional support and guidance they need to learn and thrive through our current circumstances. I believe that education should be an enriching and inspiring process, not an additional burden.

It is my hope that students will feel comfortable connecting with me one-on-one, free from pressure to downplay their struggles. I will work to meet each student at their level, and to be attentive to their individual needs.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Practice makes perfect, and you can never ask too many questions!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would ask them about the topics they're having the most difficulty with, and discuss a strategy for their improvement.
