My experience through different educational institutions such as the University of Washington and smaller programs such as Karen Dillard has diversified my understanding of transparent learning. What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I would address the difficulties the student has with the subject matter including intended goals and obligations.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
The key to independent learning, like anything you master in life, is to be able to walk the first steps. To achieve your first steps, you need be taught the ability and how to be patient.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Motivation comes from you. My goal would be to be the voice that helps it keep coming from you.
