I currently hold a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, and Pre-Medicine from St. John's University, and hold over 12 national and state certifications in the medical field, and have been employed in the medical field for over the last 10 years. I also am a Native Spanish Speaker (Spanish is my first language) and I daily adjust my conversations from English to strictly Spanish only when at home with my loved ones.

Why did I choose to become a tutor? One big yet simple reason, because I CARE ABOUT YOU AS A PERSON AND I WANT YOU TO SUCCEED IN EVERY GOAL YOU SET FOR YOURSELF. As a tutor, I truly believe that my role does not start and end solely on making sure that my student's succeed academically, but my role extends beyond that in caring about each and every student as the PERSON he/she is and also being a mentor, and a support system in any trials and tribulations that life is throwing at them.

Furthermore, in regards to my style of teaching, it varies according to the needs, the wants, and requests of each and every student. As individuals that we all are, we all DO NOT process and understand things the same way, therefore, I TRULY believe that it is CRUCIAL to adjust the teaching methods and demands according to each and every single student.

I want my students to know that I CARE, and I am truly passionate about their academic and personal growths and am here for them no matter what, I want them to know not to be intimidated or nervous by me, but to approach and see me as someone who they can truly and SAFELY open up to and who will do the best to take care of them.

Personally, my hobbies and interests include a little bit of everything, since I truly am a free spirit ed individual whom loves to experience outdoor activities, such as taking long walks in the park, visiting beautiful sites, and whom enjoys trying new things and going with the flow of the moments. I also truly enjoy spending time with my adored family and truly connecting with them, because at the end of everything FAMILY IS EVERYTHING!!!

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy lies in the fact that each and every single individual processes and understands things in their own unique way. My teaching style should be tailored and adjusted to each and every single student's specific demands and needs. I truly believe that teaching is not only making sure that the student understands the academics, but also making sure that the student is supported and understood through their own individual trials and tribulations.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

The way that I can help a student stay motivated is by making sure that the student not only is memorizing facts and ideas to get through the subject matter, but also making sure that they truly UNDERSTAND the whys and the hows of what they are learning. I believe that once a student understands the how and the why of the things that they are learning then they are more likely to become intrigued and want to explore more.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

The way I would approach this is by asking the student exactly WHAT about it is confusing that is confusing them. I would ask them to walk me through the thought process, and then I would tell them to please inform me where they get stuck. From this point on, I would try to clarify the thought process by helping the student become familiar with the specific way they process and understand things.
