ABOUT TUTOR OMOROGIUWA OGIAMIEN
Tutor Omorogiuwa Ogiamien has over 13 years of experience in the fields of technology and business. Over the years he has gained extensive experience in sales, management, engineering, mentoring and tutoring. He has worked as an Engineering Tutor for Cal Poly Pomona, Electrical Engineer for Future Concepts, College Assistant for Kingsborough Brooklyn Community College, Assembler/Tester Senior at CDI Cooperation and Bookkeeping for American Heritage University of Southern California. He is an experienced trainer and mentor with great interest in bringing knowledge into application and practice.
Tutor Ogiamien has experience in training new and existing faculty on Online Teaching Platforms and College Management Systems. Tutor Ogiamien enjoys playing the guitar, playing soccer and basketball, and chess. He is a lifelong learner and focuses on being productive and positive.
Tutor Ogiamien has a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University of Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is basically to assist students in passing assigned mathematics and physics. I happen to have developed an interest in solving mathematical and engineering physics problems, and I believe I should pass on this knowledge to others.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduce myself, and then learn about the student's goals for the course being taken.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By advising the student to practice more often because learning happens through repetition.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By not rushing the student as they solve problems.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Learn more about their inability, and tutor through that route or learning path.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I learn more about what they like doing, and I also advise them to read more international news.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I like using communication, patience, and encourage academic performance when beginning a session.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Communicate with a smile while tutoring.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would have the student tutor me after completing a session.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
By reminding them of their intelligence, as well as how far they've come academically.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
By reviewing their prior knowledge of the course in progress.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
By adapting my tutoring to the course's or instructor's curriculum and goals.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I use a pencil, a pen, a Ti-81 calculator, an eraser, books, and a laptop.
