In general, I consider myself a highly detailed-oriented person, which means that in tutoring I have a tendency towards over-preparation. In my three-plus years of experience, I've found that this tendency allows me to have enough flexibility to handle unexpected situations in the sessions. This might include stumbling upon knowledge gaps or working with a student who hasn't had material effectively communicated to them previously. I started tutoring my senior year of high school and continued into my college years at Emory; thanks to this, I'm confident that I can teach effectively in a wide variety of subjects.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Overall, I endeavor to put the student's goals first in the classroom. Since every situation is different, I try to put forth a broad-base teaching style that becomes more specific to each individual pupil's needs as I get to know their learning style better. In general, I prefer more hands-on and procedural styles of teaching - I find that a student explaining their logic and methods behind an individual problem can often reveal far more than a test score alone.
