I received my bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering (specialist in Pre-Med) and graduated as highest honor, high honor and honor candidate. With various knowledge and experiences that I had during the years, I believe that my qualification and skills prepared me to be a good candidate for this position.
In my high school, I was a student tutor for subjects of math and science, which includes biology, chemistry, and physics. With the inspiration of teaching others, I also became a certified student tutor in the Student Academic Success Center (SASC) at UC Davis in response to subjects of inorganic chemistry, college physics, calculus, statistics, linear algebra, and differential equations. I received all outstanding grades for the college level of chemistry, physics, and math. I had research experience with Dr. Nam Tran in the Department of Pharmacology. I was involved as a data analyzer to analyze the data from burnt patients to predict future complications/diseases. I also involved in another project to build mathematical modeling for glucose studies.
With much interest in Cardiology, I volunteered as a peer mentor for a course-Bioelectricity, Biomechanics, and Signaling Systems (BIM 163) for Professor Chen-Izu from the department of Pharmacology, which involves ion channels, Ca2+ signaling system, Cardiac muscle cell signaling, and Quantitative modeling of complex biological systems. All the experiments and researches are heavily based on math/calculation and sciences.
Meanwhile, I am self-studying for Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), which heavily involved and based on the subjects of general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology (physiology and molecular cell biology), sociology, psychology, physics, and verbal reasoning (English). I not only had a strong education/background with these subjects, but also kept reviewing these subjects more intensely and altogether to prepare for MCAT. With these big pictures in mind, I can find out which part of the student(s) need(s) more emphasis on and be able to strengthen the weak part.
With these various experience and skills, I do believe that I have a very solid background with math and science. Not only knowing the subjects themselves in a solid way, but also I know how to apply these subjects into the real world and able to teach others vitally.
