I am a current medical student (MD/PhD) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. I graduated in 2020 from UC San Diego with a degree in bioengineering: biotechnology. I have been a tutor for the past 5 years and my motto that I try to impart on students is to learn by doing.

That learning should be fun and interesting, not something to be dreaded.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Assess their current skill level in the subject. Then have a conversation about what is needed in order to improve their skill set, noting current strengths and weaknesses.
