Hi there!
My name is Michael. I'm a 29-year-old third year medical student. I recently joined varsity tutors to begin sharing my knowledge of the basic sciences. I held two teaching positions at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I worked as a teaching assistant in both the physiology and anatomy laboratories. These teaching positions taught me a great deal about these demanding subjects.
After graduating in 2010, I pursued a masters degree in Biomedical Science from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Shortly after my graduation I began medical school. One could say I have had a dynamic education in the basic sciences. I have also been educated by many instructors over the past 8 years. Every instructor has brought a unique contribution to my education and I am excited to share those experiences with my own students.
I would say my greatest strengths are in pharmacology, anatomy and physiology. Physiology, to me, is one of the most challenging of the basic sciences. This discipline requires patience, self-perseverance and a good work ethic.
It's easy to become overwhelmed in these courses, but taking things step-by-step and doing practicing questions should help alleviate the challenges presented by the class.
I look forward to working with you :) Let's do this!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe professors, especially in the sciences, can often intimidate students. I pride myself in my empathy towards students who are learning this material for the first time. There is no dumb question in science...let's make sure you're thinking the way these professors want you to think...that's where I can help!
