I have a BS in Biology, and a PhD in Plant Science. My area of research is in plant genetics. I have taught courses in Plant Biology and Genetics at the college and university-level at a range of institutions. I am available for individual tutoring in all levels and areas of biological sciences.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is based on active learning. I like to have students actively engaged in their learning. I also like to show applications of the material.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
For a first session with a student, I would like to take some time to learn where the student is coming from, what their background is, what their goals for the tutoring are, and whether there are specific areas that they would like to focus on.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I think that the best way to help a student become an independent learner is to develop confidence in the material and to develop studying or problem-solving strategies.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I help students stay motivated by keeping the material fun, interesting, and relevant.
