Tutoring is one of my favorite things to do. It has shown me how much I enjoy teaching others, and it has inspired me to pursue a career in education. Over the time that I have been tutoring, I have learned a lot about the learning process, and a lot about myself. Tutoring has been a very rewarding experience for me. I really enjoy the feeling of helping someone learn something that they were struggling with. I understand that everyone learns differently, and I pride myself on being able to adapt my teaching style to fit the student's learning style. I have found that patience is one of the most important skills that I can have when working with students. It is easy for a student to get frustrated when they're trying to learn something new, so I always remain calm and try every approach that I can until the student understands the material.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student is a genius, and there is nothing that they can't learn. It just requires the right motivation, and the right explanation.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student. See what their interests are, and what they enjoy from school. Then we could talk about what some of their struggles are, and how we can improve from where we are.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
A student can be a good independent learner if they have the motivation. I am currently going through school learning on my own, so I can share this experience with any student that is struggling.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would make sure the student feels good about the work that they're doing. If they feel confident in their answers then they will be more motivated to continue. It is sometimes difficult to do schoolwork, but when you're able to get the right answers it can be a very rewarding feeling.
