I have taught in the public school system in districts around the Pittsburgh area. I have experience teaching High School World History/Cultures, United States History, Civics/Democracy, Economics, and various levels of English-Language Arts. I love playing/coaching soccer, skiing, golfing, and watching sports. Community service and community involvement is something that is very important to me.

My favorite part about tutoring is working with students on a one to one setting and seeing the gains and positive strides that students are capable of making. I enjoy helping students increase their writing skills and aiding them in creating well thought out essays. My passion includes tutoring all subjects under the Social Studies and English-Language Arts umbrellas.

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is, first and foremost, that all students can learn, and involving all students in the education process benefits everyone as well as society as a whole.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I will dive right into addressing any issues that arise and get to know the student on a personal level. Students succeed with rigor, relevance, and relationships.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By giving them the skills through aiding them and then backing away with support as time goes on.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By giving achievable goals and objectives.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

First, I will not give up on anyone. By persistence and positive motivation, all students can achieve their goals.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Students should be prompted to read closely and re-read sections to increase comprehension.
