I was born and raised in Beijing, China and have experience in all Mandarin Chinese levels, as well as reading, writing and speaking. I am able to accommodate any skill set in Chinese language and am experienced in teaching the language. I am currently employed as a primary school educator/counselor and seeking to explore higher education in the near future.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Study is not an easy thing, but I hope you can have fun when you study with me. :)
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Knowing what they really need, and offering what they want.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Students should find out what the interesting thing is about study, and then I believe they will become more independent.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Encouragement is not enough; becoming their friend is the key to help them out.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I will try to make as many examples as I can to help them.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I will read it first, then read it with them. If they still cannot read it with comprehension, I will prefer to listen to their thoughts.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Becoming their friend rather their teacher.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Help them figure out what they are struggling and solve the problems with them together.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Using scenarios and practicing with them.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Make them like the subject. If they don't like it, no matter how hard you push them, it still won't work.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
It depends on what their goal is.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
As friends, we will solve everything together.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I will see if they need extra materials.
