I am an effective French tutor with student-centered educational atmosphere. My love for teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. As a graduate from University of Paris - Lome, I know that hard work always pays off. I like helping students improve their skill and realize their own potential.
I possess strong communication and team-building skills, evidenced by years of experience in teaching. I love tutoring French, AP French, algebra I, and reading My goal is to keep students challenged through interpersonal and presentational communication.
I hold myself to a high standard and often ask for feedback and make sure students and parents are always satisfied at the end of each session before we move on.
I am very flexible with time. I give students the option to choose their learning venue. However, I am happy to come to the students or travel to a location that is convenient for the students.

How would you help a student stay motivated?
Give positive feedback.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Start with background knowledge and continue from there. Teach one step at a time and make sure the concept is mastered before moving on. Finally, have the student do formative assessments.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Teach how to use context clues, connotation, and denotation. Build students' vocabularies by using different resources. Teach and do activities on how to approach reading.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Start teaching with students in mind. That is, plan the lessons with the end in mind.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Communicate the objectives with a clear goal. Show real life examples of what they can do with the skill.

Formative assessments.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Create a safe learning environment, reward their work, and give positive feedback.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Provide diagnostic assessments. This will help me evaluate the student, and then I can provide a plan to meet their needs.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Determine my student's individual learning ability and interest. Then, plan the lesson that suits him/he.

Current materials used in classroom and those found online. Authentic resources. Materials used by the teacher in the same subject.

Start with students in mind.

Get to know each other. Determine the background knowledge, learning abilities, and interest of the student. Establish a working relationship.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Constant use of gradual release strategy (I do, we do, you do) with the stress on "You do." Formative assessment with feedback.
