What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe in making kids understand the topics rather than making them TEACH the topic.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would first try to understand what he really needs from me. Once I know that, I would then proceed in helping students understand the various topics.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

A student, if he has a hold on various topics of a subject, he would be confident enough to solve/answer the questions on his/her own. Therefore I would try and help him/her gain that confidence.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Bring in new innovative methods to teach the students.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

By teaching them new words everyday, by making them practice reading everyday.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Techniques which he/she can understand.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

I would at the very first time give the student a small test (say 5-10 questions) and see if he can answer them. If he could not answer them, then I would know that he needs to do a lot of revision work (it means I would teach him what he was taught before) and then proceed with the new topics. This way I can evaluate what a student's needs are.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I would first see what his interests and hobbies are, say if the student is interested in drawing, I would incorporate symbols, colors, etc. in my teaching. This will help him remember what has been taught.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I use textbooks and summarized notes prepared by myself during the preparation for the class.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would motivate them by telling realtime inspiration stories and by giving assignments with real life scenario.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I will try to explain the concept in different ways and break questions into small scenarios.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By providing positive feedback to the students.
