Certified Tutor
I have an interdisciplinary (double major) degree from Bryn Athyn College in Mathematics and in Education, a Master's degree from Arcadia University in Education, a Master's degree from University of South Florida in Mathematics, a Master's degree from Florida Institute of Technology in Systems Engineering (Engineering Project Management) and 12 doctoral credits from Temple University in CITE (Curriculum, Instruction and Technology in Education).
I have tutored students informally for close to 50 years (this includes tutoring done in High School and College) and formally for 18 years. I have always enjoyed the special opportunity for one-to-one work that tutoring allows.
I love all Mathematics topics but especially Chaotic Dynamics ("Chaos"), finding that the math of Chaos gives insights into the world we live in that would not otherwise be available to us. I believe that in order to study higher level Math, one must have a solid foundation in the less complex concepts in Mathematics.
I believe that all students are capable of learning complex Mathematics concepts -- often above the level they believe they are. Sometimes mastery takes a student longer than s/he would like it to. As a tutor it is my determination that my students discover the inner ability that they have not, at the beginning, had confidence that they had. And Math should be fun!
Outside of "school," I enjoy singing, research and analysis of data, sewing, dancing, reading, building (my own home, a farm, etc). I enjoy being a life-long learner: the world is full of experiences and knowledge, and it intrigues me to explore.
Mathematics is the study of patterns which can fascinate and inspire one to keep learning and mastering to the highest ability within all of us.
