Jon-Mark: New Mexico tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from Harvard with a B.A. in Literature, specializing in horror stories and radio plays from the 1940's. While a student, I ran cross-country and track & field, boxed, DJ'ed for the radio station, and acted in student theater. After graduating, I spent the next five years teaching ESL at a public high school in beautiful, rainy Ishikawa, Japan, where the local motto is "forget your lunch but never your umbrella." I have also volunteered as a homework tutor and worked as a camp counselor.
I consider English and writing to be my specialties, but I also enjoy teaching all levels of mathematics.
I think of tutoring as an enterprise that demands compassion and sensitivity, and I take great pains to ensure that students understand the material, not merely hear it. I also believe that students learn best when the material engages them personally, so I strive to tailor to each student's individual interests. I am strict, but warm!
In my free time, I write and record stories for fun, go to movies and concerts, volunteer, and go for runs around the neighborhood.
