Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of California State University of Long Beach. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development and Family Studies. I am currently attending California State University Fullerton. I am working towards my Master's of Science in Counseling. After completion of this program I will be obtaining my licensure to become a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). With this degree and licensing I plan on becoming a child play therapist. For the past 5 years I have been tutoring inner city children and children of immigrants in California for the "No Child Left Behind" program. I tutor the following subjects: elementary math, middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, and algebra 2. Math is my favorite subject to tutor because as a student myself I realize how much of a challenge math can be. I have had the most success with my math students due to the fact that I am able to break material down to its simplest form in order for students to absorb the material. Due to my child development and counseling background, I understand the importance of building my student's self-esteem. I believe it is important to help my students understand that math is a difficult subject for many. However, with time and hard work they can boost their skills. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time I enjoy watching movies, reading, cooking, baking, arcades, and spending quality time with my loved ones.
