Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I received my Masters in Early Childhood Education from Saginaw Valley State University. I have been a classroom teacher for the last 16 years and have tutored my students and others after school. My favorite subjects are language arts and science because that is what I find to be the most interesting. I believe every person can learn, however we all have our own way of learning. Tutoring allows me to get to know my students and use techniques that will help them learn. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends at home or out at activities around the community. I love to read and when I have time enjoy making a variety of crafts.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Every child can learn, however we all learn at our own rate and way. It is important to figure out the best way for each child to learn and focus on that technique for each area.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would establish a relationship of understanding and trust with the student. It is very important that they feel that I am interested in who they are, not just teaching them. If the child has a wall up then we won’t accomplish much.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Building a student's confidence in themselves first will help them take more chances and believe in themselves to be independent.
