My first batch of diplomas came from graduating high school in Colorado Springs, CO. There I obtained my high school diploma along with my International Baccalaureate Diploma. My class was one of the first in the nation to go through all three levels of the IB program (PYP, MYP, DYP). As part of community service, I volunteered at an elementary to tutor students in math and writing. I then moved to Boston where I completed my BA in Psychology with a minor in film. After working at Brigham and Women's Hospital for a moment I decided to go back to school. I returned to Colorado in which I finished my Master's in Molecular and Cellular Biology focusing primarily in genetics. As the senior researcher in a lab at the University of Colorado, I spent much of my time teaching the undergraduates in my lab as well as neighboring labs the importance of what they were learning in their lectures. I provided a more hands on approach to why they were learning these techniques and how that can be used in research. I thoroughly expect great things from them and I believe that their work will aid in advancing the scientific community on particular biological processes. I am a strong believer in teaching the skills to pass the test opposed to teaching the test. Whether it be science or art or math, the skills should be able to translate across multiple subjects. I love science and getting more younger people interested in science because they would be amazed on how much has been accomplished in the past 20 years alone and that shows the ultimate potential of what they could achieve. I also like to relate teachings to how they could be used in reality. I believe that can be the biggest disconnect when it comes to learning. In my free time I like to read, write, watch TV and movies, snowboard, listen to music and yoga.
