My objective for becoming a teacher is to help students to learn and grow. I wish to establish a long-term career in dedicating my time and knowledge to helping students become successful members of society. It is my goal to work with students to establish confidence in them and abilities for them to use throughout their school career and further on in life.I have studied at Saint Vincent College since 2011. I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology Education in 2015, a certification in Early Childhood Education (PreK-4) in 2016, and am currently finishing up my Masters of Science in Special Education (PreK-8) for graduation in August of 2017. I completed my student teaching at Southmoreland School District where I was introduced to Daily 5 and how to prepare students for PSSAs. I have worked one-on-one with students who have been diagnosed with Autism and other disabilities. I taught Emotional Support at a small, private school outside of Washington, Pennsylvania.I love working with children and have done so almost my entire life starting with teaching Sunday School at my church up until my recent graduation and beginning of my own teaching career as a substitute. I enjoy seeing students succeed and have fun while learning. My favorite subjects in school included Language Arts and Science. I work as a substitute teacher in three school districts near where I live.In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and friends. I love to travel and experience new things. I believe that there are endless possibilities and new things to be discovered! I have a passion for reading books and horseback riding. I love animals, dogs and horses especially. I have two brothers, one older and one younger than me.I am married and have three Dachshund dogs, one boy and two girls. Their names are Charlie Brown, Noelle, and Chloe. I like to spend some of my free time playing with them. My world evolves around my family and friends and pursuing my dream of becoming a classroom teacher. In order to achieve my dream, I try and accomplish as many tasks as possible. It is important for me to continue to grow and learn so that I am always up to date with the way that my students learn. As a teacher, I will always be a learner because everything constantly changes.

I am a senior at Smith College majoring in Biology with a minor in African Studies. I’ve been tutoring students since I was in high school in biology, math, chemistry, study skills and organization. I was the Student Academic Adviser for my dorm my sophomore year, and I was a lab teaching assistant for an introductory Biology course. My strongest background is in biology, French, and building study skills. I’ve studied French for 7 years, including work as an Au Pair in France and Studying abroad in Madagascar. Because of my biology major, I also have a strong understanding of chemistry and math and a solid grasp on essay writing. Strong writing skills are essential, no matter what you study. My African studies minor as well as a love for history in high school has given me a firm grasp of both US history and European history. Of all these subjects, biology is my favorite to teach. I’m passionate about all the weird and wonderful things in Biology, especially microbiology, and I love to share this interest with others. I know math and science can be hard for people to grasp and I’ve come up with many tools to conceptualize the subject matter and piece it together. Biology is like a storybook of the world; you just need to learn its language. As a tutor I am creative, organized, and energetic. I recognize that every person studies differently and I always look for the best solution for each student. I personally am a visual learner, and I have many tools for conceptualizing a subject in different ways. I'm always open to new forms of teaching, and aspire to make the subject fun and engaging. In my free time I enjoy getting out in Nature, baking, photography, ballet/dance, and traveling whenever possible.

I'm an incoming graduate student at Columbia University, originally from New Jersey. I speak English and Spanish fluently. In my 5 years of teaching experience, I have taught English, Spanish and Math to a diverse range of students, including young children ranging from 3 to 12 years of age, high school students and adults, from the United States, Latin America and Asia. I have experience with one-on-one lessons (both online and in-person) and with groups in a classroom setting. Because of my diverse experience, I am accustomed to adapting my teaching based on the level, learning styles and personalities of my individual students. I am very patient and especially love working with shy students in helping them out of their shells. My classroom is a safe-space in which students can feel at ease to ask questions and practice whatever it is their struggling with, without being afraid to make mistakes or feel criticized. I believe that learning should be a fun and engaging experience both in and outside the classroom, but understand that for some students it is not. My goal is to change that for those students, by creating a warm environment in which they can feel absolutely comfortable. I earned my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification in 2018.

I love solving puzzles and meeting challenges. There is no time better than the present to master a subject and gain a new skill. I am excited about helping students succeed! My favorite subjects to tutor include English, accounting, and Spanish. I tutor math up to Algebra 1, ACT and SAT test prep, and business classes such as economics. My teaching philosophy is that any concept can be conquered and fully understood; all you have to do is relate the new idea to something you already understand. With practice, you will find yourself not only comfortable with a subject but enjoying it as well!I received my bachelor's in accounting with a Spanish minor at Oral Roberts University. I am currently still attending ORU to obtain additional education in order to become a CPA. I have tutored Spanish at ORU and I currently tutor three students aged 10, 13, and 15 four days a week.Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, mountain biking, and snowboarding. I love to be active and healthy, and I am always up to travel whenever I get the chance.

I am a graduate from the California State University of Long Beach with a bachelors in Criminal Justice. For most of my life, I have attended academies for tutoring in order to help me prosper academically throughout my school years. Over the years, I took on multiple tutoring jobs myself in order to pass on the knowledge that I have been previously taught from my mentors onto others. Personally, I enjoy teaching mathematics ranging from basic elementary math up to Algebra 1. It is a subject that I found to be most exciting and interesting during my time in school. I have always found that teaching students has always been a passion of mine. It gives me great pleasure to see the understanding light up in their eyes the moment they understand the process to how they found the solution to a problem. In my spare time, I love being active by hiking around local mountains and playing basketball and talking sports. I believe that the students are the future generation. With that being said, it is imperative that students are educated thoroughly all the while enjoying the process of learning. Please do not shy away to ask me any questions regarding anything that you are curious about. I look forward to working with you all!

I'm a student at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis studying for my BA in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science, and I am expecting to graduate in May 2018. I've been tutoring mathematics in various places since 2015, including Mathnasium: The Math Learning Center in Plymouth, MN.I loved tutoring as soon as I started doing it for the first time, because I love the subject of math and the difference I can make for people in their classes. School can be stressful, so it's a great feeling to help a student overcome a difficult problem or concept. Over the past few years I've learned specific techniques for teaching individual age groups, from K-12 to college students. This is because it's not enough to just know the subject; in order to be a good tutor, you must also know how to teach it. I've striven to continue to gain experience in teaching so I can someday be a professor, so I'm very excited to be a part of Varsity Tutors, a modern solution to teaching.

I am a graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and of the University of Central Florida. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Exceptional Student Education K-12 with an ESOL endorsement. Since graduation from Rollins College, I have immersed myself in education while trying to gain as much experience in the field as possible. After graduating from Rollins, I interned at a facility that specialized in educating students with autism and individually working with each student to assist them in reaching their academic potential. From there, I began working as a paraprofessional at a charter school that also educates students with autism. I worked there for three years before I transferred to my current job as a middle school InD teacher. I really enjoy the job and actually began my job as a tutor as a result. A parent of one of my students asked if I could begin tutoring her over the summer to keep her on track for the upcoming school year. Before I knew it, I was tutoring her brother (3rd grade) and another one of my students. I really enjoy tutoring and working one-on-one with students to achieve their academic goals. I particularly like working with students in math, writing, grammar, reading, and phonics. In my experience, I have noticed that many students are lacking education in developing the basic skills that can help them in reading (identifying letter sounds/blending) and in math (looking for key words in word problems/using manipulatives to better understand adding/subtracting/multiplying). I am a firm believer in education, and I believe that it is absolutely necessary to have in order for them to reach their full potential and reach their goals!
