I am a DC-barred attorney and a 2024 graduate of Georgetown Law. I have a BA from the University of Washington in International Studies with a focus on international human rights. Prior to earning my BA I served a term in AmeriCorps NCCC before working for several years in the gaming industry. I have had a variety of experiences tutoring others, from LSAT tutoring during law school to volunteering to tutor English and test prep skills as a teenager to more extensive coaching and mentoring in my jobs. I assisted in tutoring and training other corps members in specific skills while in AmeriCorps, and in my various roles in the games industry, I put together and led a variety of training sessions for new hires, as well as provided coaching and mentoring for colleagues. I understand the stress and fear that students can feel going into standardized testing, especially a large exam like the LSAT, and am passionate about helping others feel prepared going into their tests so that they can perform their very best. I work to empower my students to not only develop their skillsets in the areas that they will be tested on, but also to help them feel capable and confident in their abilities. I hope to help my students find bits and pieces of the exam that they can have fun with to make it feel more achievable. As a tutor and teacher, I have really enjoyed working with primary and secondary school level students. I am currently working on my second Graduate level degree in Accounting and Taxation. I love learning and helping student reach their academic and life goals.My coursework in the field of literacy, reading, and writing pedagogy has uniquely prepared me to teach primary and secondary level literary criticism and research, and essay composition. As a native Spanish speaker, I also have extensive knowledge in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish and have seen great results when teaching young and adult learners.My teaching philosophy is to help learners become knowledgeable in various disciplines and I take a multi-disciplinary approach to help long-term memorization of valuable skills. I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned my BA in History and Psychology with a minor in Leadership Studies. While studying at UIUC, I also tutored at the junior high - introductory college course level in social studies and related subjects are my forte.As a tutor, I find that its easiest when the student learns in a guided manner, rather than bland memorization or content exposure. With one on one teaching, it is possible to do this effectively and, with effort, will lead to higher absorption of material - and yes, higher grades.Outside of tutoring, I'm currently a contractor at Scott doing IT work. It keeps me busy but also allows me to use downtime to continue my own education. I'm on track to continue on to earn a secondary education endorsement, and likely won't be stopping there, as I find the technology of education fascinating. I also substitute teach at a few local schools as I'm available, and I'm a pretty avid baseball, soccer, and Formula 1 fan.

I am a lawyer, an English major, and former educational administrator who recently started a business. I live in Brooklyn and I'm originally from Jacksonville, Florida. I've lived all over the country in Los Angeles, Chicago, Florida, and NYC. Formerly I practiced bankruptcy law.I have passed the bar exam in three states via self-study on my first try for each: California (2015), New York (2020 UBE), and Illinois (2007). On the UBE I scored in the top 8 percentile. During the past few years I've taught numerous students how to pass the bar exam in many states.I am also skilled with essay writing, composition, editing, test taking strategy, literature, reading comprehension, and all areas of government/civics and law.

The subjects I tutor are professional licensure exams for social work and counseling, psychology, sociology, academic/career advising, and college level courses.

I believe strongly that it is possible to succeed at anything, if you are willing to dedicate yourself to it. I am dedicated to helping my students achieve their full potential as my own personal goal. When I worked as a tutor at the Burbridge Athletics Academic Center at the University of Utah, where I also earned my Bachelors of Science in Physics, I developed a passion for education, which I intend to continue with now that I have moved to Washington DC. I am able to tutor students in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, having developed experience as part of my pursuit of that degree. I also have an intense interest in History, which I pursued in my general educational requirements of that same degree.
