I graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology (Go Jackets!) this past December with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. From my time in National Honor Society in high school tutoring K-12 students in my town through my time at Tech as a class tutor, I've always engaged in my communities through this work. My passion led to my College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). While I have tutored a multitude of courses from varying subjects, math will always be my favorite subject to tutor; I find that there is beauty in exploring multiple paths of a problem to reach the same answer. With respect to my tutoring style, it is of the utmost importance to me that each session, my students leave having an "A-ha! moment" (a takeaway from the session), which I achieve my focusing on students' individualized goals. This is only possible through connecting (beyond our relationship as tutor-tutee) with my students, where they can lean on me as a friend for advice or to talk about their day. I believe we achieve the most as a team when students look forward to meeting with me, even when we'll be looking at the subjects they dread the most. It is my students that always inspire me to return! In my free time, I love be outside going on runs/walks, reading, and baking. I also love going to see stand-up comedy and watching club soccer (Premier League)!

I am a recent Physics graduate/nerd looking to tutor students in mathematics, physics, and computer programming. Too often I hear people say that they are 'bad' at math, science, or programming. I believe that anyone can be proficient in these subjects given the proper teacher. I hope to be that teacher for individuals and hope they can learn to love learning within STEM disciplines as much as I do (which is a ton)!

I'm a graduate student and part-time college faculty member in the Phoenix area, but I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I recently moved to Arizona after working as a tutor abroad and am keen to continue tutoring here in my new home. Though I've tutored a wide range of subjects (standardized test prep, French, English, and History, to name a few), the sciences and math are my favorites. I genuinely love the sciences, especially Biology, and I think that this passion and enthusiasm make a real difference while tutoring. I began causally tutoring family friends in high school, and over the years I've worked with students of varied backgrounds -- from those re-taking failed classes to those applying to (and being accepted at) the best universities. I'm proud to say that I've helped all my students reach their goals, frequently pushing them to exceed their expectations. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring all that Arizona has to offer -- it's so different from the east coast that I just can't get enough of it! I also like taking my telescope out into the desert to try my hand at amateur astronomy and photography, experimenting in the kitchen, and cycling. When I'm not out and about, I can frequently be found curled up with a good book or cheering on my favorite soccer team.

I am a senior at New York University studying Finance, Statistics, and Computer Science. I have been tutoring for almost five years at the high school and test prep level and I love the mentoring experience! I believe whole-heartedly in a multi-faceted approach to learning and strive for depth of practice as well as breadth of knowledge. I am well trained in all of the subjects I have listed on my profile, whether through tutoring experience or academic and professional exploration. High school sciences have been a strength of mine since taking the AP exams in high school. Through tutoring, I have kept up to date with changes in the exam and curriculum. My proudest moment was when one of my Honors Chemistry students achieved a 13 point increase in grading from the first quarter of the school year - from 83 to 96. Through my professional and undergraduate education, I am intensely familiar with finance, accounting, comp science, and economics.

I am currently working toward my Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management. In my previous tutoring experience, I've worked with students of ages ranging from 10 to 18. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorite to teach are Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Test Prep, because they provide the greatest problem solving challenges. I enjoy working through difficult problems with students, because I believe that with the right guidance, they are universally capable of rising to the challenge. Outside of academics, I enjoy dancing, listening to music, and photography.

I am currently a senior studying at Swarthmore College with a double major in chemistry and mathematics. I have tutored college and high school students in many topics including organic chemistry, calculus, trigonometry, algebra and general chemistry. I have also tutored students in the SAT verbal and math sections, as well as the math subject tests. My favorite subjects to tutor are SAT math, general chemistry and calculus.I believe that the best way to guide students through new concepts is to introduce them to each step slowly, and allow them to digest these steps in their own way through practice and problem-solving.

I'm a recent graduate of Duke University where I received a BA in Public Policy. I also minored in Psychology and French Studies. While in college, I tutored and mentored students in refugee communities mainly in Math, English, and Science. I have a total of 8+ years of tutoring experience; I'm really passionate about supporting learners using a growth mindset. I feel that creating a partnership with the student creates the best environment to tackle subjects together. Some of my favorite subjects to tutor are Geometry, Algebra, and Statistics. I look forward to meeting you!

I am currently an undergraduate at Northwest Missouri State University. I am a mathematics major with computer science and economics minors. My two passions in life are God and mathematics. My goal is to help other students see the wonders and beauty that math can bring to everyday life. I have worked with several students in this area before, both as a paid tutor and as an unpaid fellow classmate. I approach tutoring as an opportunity for the student to come to the answer on their own with minimal guidance from me. My job is to simply watch the student work and if needed, lead them to the right answer. Ultimately, my goal is to help them see the bigger picture. I want every student to not only see the "how" of mathematics but the "why", as well. Outside of school and math, I love to be outside, spending time with my family, and listening to music. I am a huge movie buff, as well. Above all, I love to learn new things and share my knowledge with other people.

I am a recent college graduate with a degree in both Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. I worked for various departments as a tutor and Teacher's Assistant for mathematics and engineering courses starting in my sophomore year all the way through graduation. It was some of my most exciting times during my years there. For me, working with students is the most rewarding part, and I love seeing the moment a difficult concept clicks. When I tutor I adjust my teaching style to the student, and find various ways to relate the topics to real life. I'll often work with students to make sure they understand the basics or foundations of the concept or problem they are attempting and help them learn to think through and understand a process over pure memorization.

My philosophy as amathematics tutorconsists of two imperatives: content knowledge and communication. I do not believe someone can successfully explain a subject without first having a deep and thorough understanding of the subject themself. However, someone can have all the knowledge in the world, but it would be useless if they could not patiently and efficiently instruct others. When it comes to math tutoring, I am particularly qualified in both regards. In June, I graduated summa cum laude inMathematicsfrom the Honors College at the University of Oregon (GPA: 4.02). In my education, I studied both a broad and deep mathematical curriculum, received a fellowship to conductmathematical research in knot theory, and acedCalculus7 (...just kidding about that last one). I have taken several graduate-levelmathcourses and plan on continuing my academics by earning a Ph.D. inmatheducation. (If it's not obvious, I have a thing formath.)I was amathtutorat my university for three years. I tutored education majors taking a rigorous mathematics content course. So not only did Itutormath, but I tutored for a course designed to provide students with the knowledge to be effective teachers. This has equipped me with the necessary pedagogical understanding to patiently and knowledgeably explain complicated subjects in easy-to-grasp terms. In short, I am atutorwho knows what I'm talking about, knows how to explain it, and can do it in a relatable way. Whether your child is struggling or overachieving in theirmathclass, I want to help them better understand andhopefullyappreciate mathematics.
