I have been the instructor of record for a number of classes in the Natural Sciences Department. The classes with lab included I've taught (face to face and/or online) are calculus based Physics, non-calculus based Physics, Physical Sciences Survey, Astronomy and Engineering Mechanics. For these classes, I have been responsible for the preparation of all course material. This includes the development and presentation of the lecture, and grading of exams. In addition to these lecture courses, I have also taught several laboratories including General Physics, Physical Sciences Survey and Astronomy. In these laboratories, I was responsible for the lab lecture, assistance in the laboratory, and grading of the lab reports. My teacher evaluations have been quite favorable; in the past 7 years, my overall performance has been rated as either superior or excellent by more than 80 percent of the students. As can be seen from my diverse teaching background, I enjoy the challenge of teaching new courses. Regarding my teaching philosophy, I feel that students learn in many ways; some learn quickly, some more slowly; some require extensive motivation while others are extremely interested in the material. I also believe in being a strong student advocate. I strongly believe in making courses interesting and challenging for all types of students. Because of the importance of the technology in today's lifestyle, I believe that the use of computational tools like simulations to reinforce ideas that have been discussed in lecture can frequently be very beneficial to many students.
